Burning the midnight oil together at 1-14…

May 10, 2007

Today is Thursday, the 10th of May.

First off, happy birthday to bro =P Wishing you all the best in this 24th year of your life!! We might not keep in contact much, but I’d never forget your birthday even if I were swamped by the impending threats of one economics tute test (5%), one accounting assignment (10%), and one statistics paper (15%). Lol! luv ya ^^

Moving along~

Finally made it to stats lectures this morning!!! *achievement!!* Woke up around 7:30am and got ready by 8:25am, but… I was still cutting it fine because I saw a copy of yesterday’s pre-election-budget majingy and started reading it o.O whooooooooops!!!

Didn’t feel too good by the time I reached South One (all that lack of sleep finally catching up =.=”) so I chose a seat near the entrance for speedy exits. Thankfully, that was unneccessary — – kinda.

After ETC was an excitement-filled few minutes of printing out that goddamnedawful statistics assignment. 12 pages. 8 of which is pure text (going up to 2700+ at last count). Bumped into Dickson and started discussing part one of that assignment (to my horror). He suggested dinner together afterwards but I had to refuse since MUISS meetings today were 6-7pm, and after that I had MURP. T.T

Lazed around in the lounge after that while chatting to Ezra. Really random chatter o.o he’s launching a Vote-Ezra-2007 campaign soon though — that should be fun to watch =D (since I know his *ahem* supporters…)

The MCAC lunch today had less people than last week, but not by much (still need to ask Bernie for a more comprehensive list of who-turned-up-after-scary-Raine-left. At least 4 people did, I think >.>” am I THAT scary?)!! We had a new face — Jim, who came to return the club DVD stack to Bernie (who forgot to bring her nekomimi hat T.T no fair!!! I wanted to see that…) We did more random chatting, tossed around the idea of the Tower of Pocky, entered into a discussion about which halls have the biggest rooms/most social happenings/seem like ghost towns/etc ^^ Fascinating =P It was darned cold though… most of us were shivering ‘coz we were underdressed =.=” Suggestions will have to be compiled for next week’s meeting location…

My Econs tute test went by in a flash, and I skipped Accounting lectures again in favour of resting. It seems that the rest wasn’t enough though, since the first part of my 3-5pm economics lecture was spent in a haze of I-dunno-what-ness. Bleargh… thank god the second half of it was more productive on my side >.< Something to note is that I felt even worse after lunch than before it… I suspect that the Grain Express food I consumed had something to do with it >.> is it dodgier than it seems to be on the outside??

Another short rest later (decided AGAINST eating to not further upset my stomach), we launched into the 2nd-last MUISS gencomm meeting of the sem. Next Thursday will be our last formal meeting for Sem 1 2007, and as stated in an earlier blogpost, we’ll be having a sports session to round things up =D Audrey dearest told everyone that it was kinda compulsory to go along =P (before I didn’t want to bother arguing with those who said that they were going to be absent… for this week at least, time spent debating with hardheaded people is better spent resting and catching up on sleep. Now I don’t have to argue XD)

Skipping MURP (in Wholefoods, running from 6-11pm today), I went home via the sports rec and checked prices for sport courts. Have to make full arrangements for the bookings tomorrow *^-^*

After dinner was homework (and MSN-ing Chris/Bernie/Cas from MCAC as well as Audrey/WS/Serene/KS from MUISS at random intervals). Decided not to do ETC corrections (damn… forgot to amend the p-value so that it applies to the one-tailed t-test) but go for MYOB instead.

And oh.my.god.

I started looking at the booklet at 10ish going 11pm since I wanted my shower over and done with first. Unfortunately, by midnight I was still no closer to finding out what I wanted than one hour before. WHAT THE HECK WAS I SUPPOSED TO RECORD GST WITH??? …in the end I resorted to a mixture of textbook+google+manual+deducement to create my chart of accounts.

In a side-note, all my flatmates are doing accounting too (they’re in Accounting & Finance; one doing 1021 and one doing 1022). Printouts are due tomorrow, so understandably all of us were rather frantic. Amanda hadn’t been able to balance her manual accounts for the past three days (so she finished MYOB first instead) and decided to go through my question while referring to my manual answers to see where she’d gone wrong. Adilah came over every 20 minutes or so to fire posting questions at me to make sure that she wasn’t going to submit the wrong answers. So basically for every 15 minutes of uninterrupted work we had maybe 3 minutes of name-calling and impromptu discussions. Whoa.

Well that was still all good and fine; I did all the laborious painstaking work until the unadjusted trial balance was out (circa 3am)… and THEN!!! *dadadada…* I couldn’t input the adjusting entries for the period. OMG… turns out that between Tuesday/Wednesday when I’d decided to start on MYOB, I’d put down accounting periods as 12, and not 13….

That was in the data file. Meaning that I couldn’t go back and change anything.

Woot.

I had to START FROM SCRATCH!!!

Therefore from 2:47am to maybe 5am, little moi was furiously redo-ing a data file and chart of accounts, and re-inputting all the individual little tiny transactions that make up my assignment. Fun-ness.

Went to bed at hopefully 5:30am. As consolation? I wasn’t the only one. Adilah and Amanda were there burning the midnight oil right beside me. =S that’s what happens when we procrastinate, lol…

(random: my MSN died on me at around 12:45am… gomen to anyone who was waiting for me to turn up!!)
