“Darn… should have brought Noriko along to carve the chicken up!” –collective moan.
Tonight’s dinner was to be between KS, Han, Nic, me and Serene. Stephie and Kawa couldn’t come because they had work; Sharon didn’t show up because she wanted to finish off other food first. We waited at the lounge until 6pm-ish for all dinner-ers to turn up (sans KS) before progressing on to my place to grab the chicken (10 drumsticks and one whole chicken) as well as two spice packs and some santan + veggies. Adilah had gone shopping earlier on so I had enough curry chicken packs to work with ^^
Nic led the way to KS’s place since he’d overnighted there (as mentioned). I forgot to bring KS’s can of chicken stock with me, though! Whoooooooops. ^^” (Passed some cookies to Han since he hadn’t eaten since waking up @.@”)
Upon arrival… uwaaa KS’s place is neat leh… lolz… he was already peeling and sectioning potatoes, so (eager not to lose to him) we started out defrosting the meat and washing the piled-up dishes at the sink. Once he could, Nic set about chopping up the whole chicken while we got the drumsticks into the pan along with KS’s pack of curry whatchamacallit. Special request by our head chopper was for the curry to not be too spicy since he couldn’t take that kind of food e.e” Oh well… he’s the one carving the chicken, so we might as well… right?
Meanwhile rice was being steamed in the cooker and… Han was providing musical entertainment while… Serene was missing o.o” I do not want to know what she was doing without us… >.> poking through KS’s files, mayhaps? XD
-Random insertions of more meat and/or more other stuff into the curry; eg cummin seeds, curry powder, curry leaves, more cummin seeds, salt, water, etc-
-Extra: called Adilah to tell her that I wasn’t going with them to watch the Crucible since I hadn’t finished with the curry chicken yet >.<” She said, “oh okay… it’s fine… have fun.”-
50 minutes later we were done and sitting down to savour the first batch of curry for the day. Mmmm. Tasted quite alright, but… totally not enough T.T Serene wanted to go back for badminton… Nic wanted to catch the bus… Han wanted to get some sleep… so the three of them left almost immediately after dinner O.O
Ah well.
Thus KS and I proceeded to start on Curry Chicken: Batch 2 with gusto—hey, more food for us, right?
This time we took more than an hour, since we wanted the chicken to be really cooked. Added tons more cummin seeds and curry powder, also some tomato slices (which sweetened the spicy flavour, yikes!) and the extra potatoes/carrots. Sat down for SUPPER… which was amazing. Aaaaaaaaah.
We were left with a bit too much curry, though ^^” Didn’t want to bring any home since the meat wasn’t halal and I didn’t want to tempt Adilah T.T (see what a nice flatmate I am? lol.) Thankfully, KS’s housemates started to appear around this time… =D naturally, we let them have the curry… and trust me, it was so gratifying to watch Frank (the only other undergrad in the house, who incidentally couldn’t take spicy foods) continue digging in even though he was sweating like mad from the curry!! KS’s indian(?) housemate commented that we’d done a good job, and the others all gave positive reviews as well *^-^* All in all, even though we didn’t engorge ourselves on as much curry chicken as we would like to have been able to, the night was most fulfilling~~
Gossiped with the residents about random stuff and procured information about how KS’s house usually looks like XD Apparently the smaller the rooms are, the more messy they are!! (With Jon’s room as an example, I’d expected the opposite =P) LOL and the jokes about the fire extinguisher… the security cameras… the dishes in the sink… ^^ those guys were fun ^^
I hung around at KS’s place until past 11pm since I knew Adilah wouldn’t be back until past 11:30pm and I didn’t have my keys with me (Serene had took them so that she could retrieve her badminton stuff, and then her dad came for her before we were even done cooking the chicken, so I’d asked her to leave the keys on my table top but lock all the doors). Reluctantly returned since I’d been imposing upon them for too long….
KS walked me back and since I had time to kill he considered waiting with me so that I wouldn’t be alone (awwww). To spare him a cold 20 minutes or more, I went to visit 1-1 (Tae’s flat) and to my relief found that there were still people up. Let KS go home, then chatted awhile with the guys until maybe 11:45pm? Had to leave then because Tae was sleepy and I didn’t want to impose on him, lol ^^”
Luck however was still on my side. As I was dialing Adilah to check where she was, Amanda came up the stairs ^^ Yay, got into my place safely.
Thanks, KS, for letting me use your kitchen… your housemates were very accomodating and I’m glad that our cooking seemed to turn out well! <3<3<3
